Mental Illness often lives in the shadows of our lives. It can be so hard to open up and share the thoughts and feelings that live in the dark places of our minds. Words like Suicide, Bipolar, Depression, Schizophrenia, Eating Disorder, self-harm, Addiction, Alcoholism are too often whispered, as if not talking about them will make everything better. People are telling us they need help, yet we are too focused on our phones, ourselves, and society that we aren’t listening. Those struggling with mental illness, more often than not, feel alone, isolated, unloved, unheard, and desperate for help - together we can change that. We need to stop looking at our phones and start reconnecting with each other. We need to remember how to listen.
We need to live in a world where talking about mental illness openly is part of the norm. We need to live in a world where those struggling with a mental illness are not viewed as weak or attention-seeking. We need to live in a world where words like Suicide, Bipolar, Depression, Schizophrenia, self-harm, Eating Disorder, Addiction, Alcoholism, can be openly talked about without fear of stigma. We need to shut the door to stigma and open the door to acceptance. Use your voice. Create change.

Listen. Save a life.
