Toby T-Bird Baby, a black Labrador Retriever, was born December 13th, 2007, and crossed the rainbow bridge, peacefully at home, on April l 27th 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Toby found his forever home shortly after he was born. It didn’t take long to learn that life with Toby would never be boring.

Toby was lovingly known by several aliases: Toby T, Toblerones, Handsome Boy, Handsome Man, Sweet Boy, Toby Tobes, and Buddy. He was less affectionally known as El Diablo, Little Shit, Big Shit, and Satan’s Spawn.

Toby loved long hikes and snowshoeing with Shane and Makaila. He loved playing keep-a-way and was a master at escape and evade. He loved to chew on all the things and excelled at chewing on the things he shouldn’t. He loved belly rubs and bum scratches. He loved helping Shane in the shop, Kristin pull weeds, and he was always a little too helpful. He loved anything he could do with Makaila. Toby was an excellent listener and knew all the family secrets. His eyes could see into your soul.

A hot tub, 2 BBQ grills, several pairs of shoes, slippers, towels, laundry hung on the line, underground cable cords, house plants, a couple of trees, wooden stairs, shrubbery, and a lot of landscaping preceded Toby in death.

Leila Kristine, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, found her forever home in May 2014 and crossed the Rainbow Bridge on April 27th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Leila was a love. She was the kindest, most loving dog we have ever known. We affectionately also knew her as Leila Love, Sweet Girl, Pretty Girl, Elle Belle, and Sweet Love.

Leila was always happy. Her tail wag could knock the wind out of you. She loved chasing anything with wings. She could always be found with a ball in her mouth. She loved swimming and playing fetch. She had a cast-iron stomach and loved having her ears scratched. She was always ready for a party and loved treats.

Leila taught us the meaning of perseverance. When her muscles atrophied, she never gave up trying. She was the perfect example of falling down 7 times and getting up 8. She was pure joy!

Toby and Leila are survived by their devoted humans. Their mom Makaila Kristine. Their doggy grandparents, Kristin, and Shane, and their furry Aunt Scout Rilla.

*********************************

Toby and Leila were companions in life, so when their health started to fail, and we realized there was nothing more we could do, we made the hard decision to have them cross the Rainbow Bridge together. Together forever.

No amount of warning can prepare you for the day you have to say goodbye to a dog. There are no words adequate to express the grief of this loss. A dog’s love is unconditional and pure. Their love comes without strings. They are one of the greatest gifts given on earth. Toby and Leila will live on in our memories until we meet on the Rainbow Bridge.
