I love this quote by Neal A. Maxwell “When we return to our real home, it will be with the “mutual approbation” of those who reign in the “royal courts on high.” There we will find beauty such as the “mortal eye hath not seen”; we will hear sounds of surpassing music which mortal “ear hath not heard.” Could such a regal homecoming be possible without the anticipatory arrangements of a Heavenly Mother?”

As I have pondered on the quote, I find my thoughts turning to Christmas and the knowledge that such a regal birth could not be possible without the anticipatory arrangements of a Heavenly Mother.

I have thought of what role she played in the birth of Christ. Did She herald the angels? Did She comfort Mary on the road to Bethlehem? Did she pave the road for the Wise Men following a star? In my mind’s eye, I see Her staying close to Mary, comforting her, holding her close, and weeping with her during Christ’s death. I see Her with Christ in Gethsemane weeping at the unbearable pain He was experiencing, knowing it was for the greater good.

I ponder on what Christ was taught by His Heavenly Parents before coming to earth. I believe our Heavenly parents celebrated with us in heaven at the glorious event unfolding. I believe our Heavenly Parents reassured us that Christ would accomplish everything He was sent to do, so we, the hosts of heaven, could return to our Heavenly Parents’ presence after our time on earth.

I look forward to the day I am reunited with my Heavenly Parents, Christ, and those I love and have lost on this mortal journey. I am grateful for the Christmas season, the birth of a babe in a manger, for His sacrifice that allows me to live with my family forever.
