Today I am grateful for loops, station wagons, and shower thoughts.

My dad loved to go on scenic loop drives and drag his family along with him. We would climb into the yellow station wagon, girls in the middle, the boys got the far back. On longer loops, we’d go to Palisades, Bear Creek, Craters of the Moon, Island Park. Short loops sent us to Ririe, Driggs, Jackson Hole, Swan Valley. I was never a huge fan of the loops if treats weren’t involved, and I wasn’t a fan of the yellow station wagon.

I have been reflecting on the loops he took us on and a couple things come to mind.

The station wagon may not have been the best looking car on the road but it was what was inside the car that mattered and the loops always led us back home.

We are given one life and one body. One earth loop before we go home to our Heavenly Father’s presence. What isn’t important on this scenic earth loop is material things and a perfect body. What is important is who we are on the inside, the memories we make, and the lives we touch. Our soul is the masterpiece of the time we are given on earth. Make sure your soul is one you would want to spend eternity with.

As I think back, I find myself realizing that the yellow station wagon was the most beautiful car on the road, not because of what it looked like on the outside...because of the way it felt on the inside.
