It’s eating disorder awareness week and the kickoff of The National Alliance for Eating Disorders NOT ONE MORE weekend.

During the last week, I have been reflecting on what NOT ONE MORE means to me.

What does NOT ONE MORE mean to me? It means…..

Not one more parent having to go to their child’s room in the middle of the night to make sure they are still breathing.

It means not one more insurance company denying life-saving treatment

it means not one more family fighting insurance to get their child life-saving treatment

It means medical professionals being educated in eating disorders.

It means not one more parent being the smartest person in the room when surrounded by medical professionals.

It means not one more parent hoping their child makes it through the night.

It means not one more insurance company pulling a child from treatment because they are eating

It means not one more person saying, “I wish I could get an eating disorder. "

It means not one more doctor saying, “You don’t look like you have an eating disorder,”

It means equal access to care for all those struggling with an eating disorder.

It means affordable care for all.

It means treatment programs providing opportunities for care in treatment deserts first

It means the eating disorder community coming together and working as one.

It means not one more child being taken off life support

It means NOT ONE MORE funeral

It means not knowing one more parent that had to bury their child.
